DESCRIPTION
Unbound by gender,
transcending all genres,
a novel worldview comes alive.
Composed by Emperor Sanjō, as part of the classical Japanese anthology Hyakunin Isshu:
「心にもあらでうき世にながらへば 恋しかるべき夜半の月かな」
"Though against my wishes,
I must live on in this world of pain.
But when I look back
I will surely recall you fondly,
Dear Moon of this darkest night." (*1)
Inscribed are the words of this waka poem, printed onto the necktie and the pattern.
Those who face a life of hardships, finding admiration in the beauty of the moon... The delicate feelings conveyed in this piece informs our design with a modern interpretation.
The uneven pattern, reminiscent of mist, is an expression of Emperor Sanjō's feelings.
The "Moon of the darkest night" reveals itself on the necktie, adding a fleeting, yet beautifull accent to the dark atmosphere.
With the necktie in inverted colors, and the beautiful georgette fabric with a loose drape, this shirt creates a modern and gothic atmosphere.
